Microwave Bacon

Microwave Bacon

This microwave bacon recipe is relatively healthy compared with floating the rashers in a pan full of hot oil. It’s really simple and takes only a couple of minutes from packet to palate. As well as being quicker, cooking bacon in the microwave is a lot less messy than cooking it in a pan of grease on the stove since you don’t get fat spattering up all over the place. Microwave bacon is one of the few microwave recipes that is endorsed by a celebrity chef. In episode 2 of Marco Pierre White’s “The Great British Feast” (clip shown below) Michelin Star chef, Marco Pierre White serves up a microwave bacon butty breakfast for a crew of taxi drivers. They all loved it.

So let’s cook some microwave bacon…

You'll Need

  • Microwave safe plate
  • 2 rashers of bacon

Method

Select your microwave oven's power to get the correct timing
Power
Total Cooking Time = 1 mins, 30 secs

  1. Place the bacon rashers flat on a plate and cover with a paper towel
  2. Cook in the microwave oven at full power for around 45 seconds per rasher. i.e 1:30min for 2 rashers
  3. Stand for 1 minute before serving

To Serve Microwave Bacon

Why not serve your microwave bacon in a bread roll, on some toast or with a microwave fried egg. Egg and bacon go hand in hand. To give yourself the illusion that you're being somewhat healthy while you're consuming those lovely rashers of microwave crispy bacon, stick a few lettuce leaves and couple of slices of tomato in with it. Remember, you can't go wrong with a dollop of tomato sauce with this recipe.

Microwave Bacon Tips

If you prefer a "not so crispy" microwave bacon meal, add put a few drops of water into the dish before you begin cooking. Another way is to cover the bacon with a Pyrex lid to trap the moisture.
